Kaikado wurde 1875 in Kyoto gegründet und war der Pionier bei der Herstellung von Weißblechdosen.
Seit über einem Jahrhundert werden die von ihrem Gründer entwickelten handwerklichen Techniken unverändert weitergeführt und jede Dose braucht mehr als 130 Arbeitsschritte zur Herstellung.
Zwei Metalllagen werden benötigt: eine innere aus Weissblech und eine äussere aus verzinntem Weissblech, Messing, Kupfer oder Silber.
Die doppelte Metallwand ist somit perfekt für die Lagerung - die Dosen sind vollkommen luftdicht.
Mit der Zeit bekommt die äussere Metalllage über die Jahre hinweg eine einzigartige, wunderschöne Patina.

Kaikado was founded in Kyoto in 1875 and was the pioneer in the production of tinplate tins, and for over a century the craftsmanship developed by its founder has been carried on unchanged, with each tin requiring more than 130 steps to produce. Two layers of metal are required: an inner layer of tinplate and an outer layer of tinned tinplate, brass, copper or silver.
The double metal wall is therefore perfect for storage - the tins are completely airtight and the outer metal layer acquires a unique, beautiful patina over the years.
